The recently arrested Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has been permitted to attend Parliament sittings today and tomorrow.
The decision has been taken at the business committee which met yesterday chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
This came following a request made by the Opposition MPs from the Speaker to allow MP Bathiudeen to attend Parliament sittings.
Accordingly, Sergeant-At-Arms Narendra Fernando has requested the Health Ministry Secretary to take steps to bring MP Bathiudeen to attend Parliament sessions today and tomorrow.
The letter with copies to the Prisons Commissioner and Director General of Health Services has mentioned that the decision was taken according to provisions of the Privileges Act. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
