Public officials to get Rs. 2,500 from July 1

The Finance Ministry today issued a circular to pay a Rs.2,500 monthly interim allowance to all public officials with effect from July 1.

The allowance would be paid following the statement made by Minister Mangala Samaraweera during the Budget 2019.

The circular in this regard had already been issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Disaster Management, with the consent of the treasury, to all secretaries to ministries, chief provincial secretaries and the heads of departments.

This new interim allowance would be paid to public officials from July 2019 and a cost of living allowance of Rs. 7800.00 is to continue in the future too. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
