President Maithripala Sirisena held bilateral talks with visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday said the visit would have a positive impact on Sri Lanka’s economic, tourism and trade sectors.
The Indian Prime Minister, who arrived in the country last morning, held bilateral talks with the President.
Mr. Modi was received on arrival by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who was present to see the Indian PM off at the airport after the conclusion of his visit.
A statement from the President’s office said the two leaders had held discussions centering on regional security.
Mr. Modi, the first foreign leader to visit Sri Lanka after the terror attacks that took place on April 21, visited the Katuwapitiya Church, which was one of the targets of the Easter Sunday bombings. India had extended its fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka to counter jihadi terrorism.
