Laughable. Not even 0.4 % of the population. How many infected people we have in Sri Lanka? Much much more than 2000.

Half of the tests are from VVIP guests security people

Australia has similar population but doing 30,000 test a day. With very low testing rate we will never identify asymptomatic cases.

A great achievement! Thank you forces.

HAHAHA Dumbest thing you have said to date, and that is saying a lot. 750 tests a day on average.. and majority on repeated tests of VIPs and their staff and families. We have NO IDEA how many of the general population are actually infected.

It's very clear that the govt is keen on showing that the Covid-19 positive cases are low by not conducting enough PCR tests. 85,000 tests equals to 0.39% of the population at an avg of less than 900 tests per day, which obviously includes re-testing of those who interact with VVIPs. Let's put into perspective the 'intent' with which the SL govt has gone ahead with PCR testing; Sri Lanka's daily tests per million people stands at 44.43. Our neighbours; Nepal 143, India 103, Bangladesh 86, Pakistan 115, have done much better than us. Even countries like Uganda and Rwanda have overtaken us with 54 and 122 respectively.

The people commenting here are talking as if test costs are being paid by them. If there are more infected people around , how come we are not seeing any hospitalization, deaths. Dont sit on a couch and start typing what comes to your mind based on your political affiliations. Sri Lanka has adequately controlled the spreading of the virus , thanks to the efforts of President, Armed Forces and Health care workers. We are still not out of danger. If people do not adhere to precautionary measures then we can have more infections.
