The General Secretary of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera yesterday said that no decision had been taken about the SLFP candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election.
He added that if the Presidential election is to be won, 3.1 million votes belonging to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) would be insufficient and that the 1.4 million votes of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) should be added to it to create a formidable alliance. If not, he said the candidate from another party will definitely win.
He said if two candidates contest from the two parties it will lead to a defeat. However, he said if the Presidential candidate of the SLFP was announced in advance, their party supporters may be tempted to join the bandwagon of former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Therefore, the decision they are going to take should not be one that betrays the party, Jayasekara maintained.(Nalaka Sanjeewa Dahanayake)

Dont go by the previous results . SLPP votes are based on MR . Since MR cannot contest DONT think GR will get the same vote bank . All depends who the other contenders are . If RW contest GR will have a chance and if Sajith contests its a one horse race for sure . Our country needs a YOUNG , ENERGETIC and HONEST leader and NOT an American NOR pensioneers ( Over 65 years ) to lead our nation !

But Pohottuwa gone ahead selecting their candidate. They will definitely not allow a cobra to put its venom and get their future plans victimized. Good lesson for those who defeated in the election but elevated as ministers for the sake of yahapalana government formation.

How come that someone who RENOUNCED SL Citizenship at one point of his life, CAN contest to the presidency of SL.!!??? Doesn't matter if that person reapplied for SL Citizenship and now an Duel Citizen!!! Moreover, by Oath his foremost Aligience is FOR America First!! Now think about THIS!! Do LANKANS want to ELECT someone with Disloyalty, as the Leader of SL!??? Huh!??
