NPC approves proposal to deploy security personnel for retired IGPs

The National Police Commission (NPC) has approved a request made by the Acting IGP to deploy security personnel for retired IGPs and Senior DIGs.

NPC Secretary Nishantha Weerasinha said the Acting IGP has made the request last week after considering the inconveniences caused by these top retired police officers and their security.

Retired IGPs or Senior DIGs have not been provided with security personnel before unlike military officers.

I live in London, none of the retired senior policemen of the metropolitan police ,scotland yard, is ever given personal security. It is a waste of the taxpayers money to provide security for those who have left uniform jobs.

Sri Lanka is not London, When it comes to revenge, and attacks against lawyers, police forces, goverment personal . Criminals in London know that they gain nothing to revenge on a Police officer that did his job. That is not the case in SL my friend,

What is so special about the retired IGPs that they need security all their lives, while in work and also even after leaving the work. We have had police Force for a long long time, how come suddenly this request to provide security.
