As the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day is falling on the weekend, the Government had declared May 20 as a Government (Public) Holiday, Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardane said.
He said the decision was taken following the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister.
“Buddhist devotees would be able to participate in their religious activities all around the country because of the additional holiday,” he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
