Kuwait has banned commercial flights to 31 ‘high risk’ countries including to Sri Lanka due to the spread of the Covid-19, foreign news agencies said quoting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on Saturday (1).
“The countries include India, Pakistan, Egypt, the Philippines, Lebanon and Sri Lanka, which all have large numbers of expatriates in Kuwait. The list also includes China, Iran, Brazil, Mexico, Italy and Iraq,” reports said.
The ban was announced the same day Kuwait began a partial resumption of commercial flights. The authorities have said Kuwait International Airport would run at about 30 per cent capacity from Saturday, gradually increasing in coming months.
Kuwait, which has recorded nearly 67,000 coronavirus cases and more than 400 deaths, began a five-phase plan at the start of June to gradually lift restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the virus.

This is very disturbing. As per patriots, Sri Lanka is among the top ten countries to control COVID-19. What is the reason for this? Are we Sri Lankans getting correct information?

This is so funny. Everyone who comes from Kuwait to Sri Lanka tests positive for Covid! They are at much higher risk than Sri Lanka...With higher numbers. Sri Lanka still doesn’t know how to communicate it’s strengths...

Oh but wait they have not suspended people from USA. Clearly they cannot tell a high risk country from a low risk country. Migrant workers are the worst affected in these countries not their own populations. Shows clearly how concerned they are about these workers who drive their economies.

Did Kuwait have a single person of Covid 19 contracted from a Sri Lankan? Ooh this may be due to summer heat now.

If we are high risk what do they think of India, US, UK and other European countries? In fact we have done far better than Kuwait itself and are being praised by WHO for our achievement.

We talk big about containing the Covid 19 but many countries have baned flights to and from Sri Lanka like middle East and European countries.
