Kurunegala Mayor Thushara Sanjeewa filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking a stay order on the warrant for his arrest issued by Kurunegala Magistrate's Court in connection with the demolition of King Buvanekabahu assembly hall.

Why is there a common practice amongst some politicians and officials to evade arrest by filing writ petition, filing fundamental rights petition? Can we do the same?
