UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra said yesterday the JVP should have brought in an impeachment against the President instead of a no-confidence-motion (NCM) against the government as he was the one who should take responsibility for the April 21 terror attacks.

She told parliament that the no-confidence motion put forward by the JVP against the government had not mentioned about the President's negligence and added that it had only held the Cabinet and the Prime Minister responsible for the incident.

"The JVP has not mentioned the President in the NCM. If they asked us for the support we could have supported them to find more than 75 signatures to bring in an impeachment against him," she said.

She said it was clear from the revelations before the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attack as to whose negligence had paved the way for it to take place. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Why not the UNP? The UNP dose not as it is power at any cost for Ranil. Shame.

Your hate for the President is making you look pathetic. The list of officials whose negligence led to the Easter attack are ; (1) The IGP , (2 )Head of CIID, (3) Head of National Intelligence ,(4) Head of Army Intelligence, (5) Defence Secretary, (6) President, (7) Prime Minister.

I agree. President is a cowerd which he has openly shown to the general public. I do not whether he is responsbile but with the NCM by JVP clearly reflects a big story with less number of votes being in loosing

JVP should have brought NCM against Prez, not govt.: Hirunika - She is absolutely correct. The JVP does not know whether it is coming or going! they are completely disoriented. We expected better.

Well said, but JVP should have brought the NCM against the Prez, when he violated the constitution in October 2018.
