The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today urged the Health Ministry to immediately implement the transfers of the doctors by dodging the ministry’s weaknesses without criticising others in order to conceal their shortcomings.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Naveen de Soyza said that the entire health sector had been deteriorated due to several actions taken by the Health Ministry and added that the ministry’s arbitrary nature had risked the lives of the innocent patients.
“Health Ministry’s responsibility is to implement the transfers of the doctors in a transparent manner by following the establishment code. But unfortunately the ministry has delayed the internal transfers of the specialists for seven months,” he said.
He said that the transfers for doctors attached to the North Eastern Province had been delayed for two years. He also said that special appeal list had been subjected to the same fate.
He said that the inconvenience faced by the patients due to this issue was inevitable and added that there would be risk of closing down the terminal hospitals as the result.
“The terminal hospitals which are ready to open, have also halted due to this delay in doctors' transfers,” he said. (Kalathma Jayawardhane)

That is how they get docs to go on strike and tow their line by being subservient to GMOA. Health Ministry should do this without GMOA involvement.

I used to comment on news items on GMOA's antics. Now that this has become an almost daily dance by the GMOA, it a waste of time and energy, even to read there nonsensical utterances and also getting down to commenting. Wish you all the best GMOA !

Hey Look at this, jokers who take poor people as hostages to get more salary, car permits in every 5 years, best school for their children and also wanted that government to treat them as super humans now talks the well fare of the people whom they penalize at the drop of a hat.This fool is trying to fool the masses while depriving them for petty reasons.Government should establish more and more private medical colleges with strict guide line to produce doctors to counter the hegemony of this people in their profession.In the west doctor is just a profession like any other profession we must bring them in to that level.

Hello Zoysa, Health sector has deteriorated due to Doctors failure to give priority to patients. They concentrate on their pocket and other issues.

According to the establishment code there is an annual transfer procedure by the end of an year. GMOA has many transfer lists for their stooges.The annual transfer list The north & east transfer list Frequently special transfer lists etc. These are all illegal and is a problem for the ministry officials. via DM Android App
