Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi today participated at a meeting held at the Health Ministry making her first official meeting after having recovered from COVID-19.
The discussion aimed at the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country and the progress of the virus control programme.
Apart from that, the Health Minister also drew attention to the implementation of the vaccination programme, PCR testing status, implementation of Health guidelines and the present status of the COVID-19 Treatment Centres.
She reminded during the meeting that they had been able to overcome critical hurdles in the endeavour to contain the COVID-19 virus as a result of working as a family.
"We would continue to show the same momentum in future so that the virus could be successfully contained in the society," she added.
Minister Wanniarachchi also thanked the Ministry officials for their consistent and dedicated work during her absence from office.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena and Additional Secretaries to the Health Ministry, Director Generals, Deputy Directors were also present at the meeting. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
