Harshana Dissanayake, most popular sportsman of the year

Young chess champion Harshana Dissanayake of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala has bagged the presidential award for the ‘most popular sportsman of the year’ at Presidential Sports Awards held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre this evening. 

16-year-old Harshana, who emerged as the national chess champion this year, is the youngest to win the presidential award.

Harshana won the gold medal in the under 11 age group at the World Schools Chess Championship held in Brazil in 2014.

    Chess is Notta Sport !!! No Athleticism involved !!! PERIOD !!! However, Chess is like a Sport in meny other ways !!!
