The extraordinary gazette titled ‘COVID-19 (Preventive Measures) Regulations’ was issued a short while ago, the Department of Government Printing said.
The gazette notification was issued with the signature of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi
According to the gazette notification, legal action would be taken against those who defy health rules and regulations such as maintaining social distance at public places and wearing of face masks.
The Health Ministry said that with the issuance of this new gazette notification, the courts will be able to impose a fine of not more than Rs. 10,000 and or hand down a six-month jail term.

please make sure that the ministers also follow these rules and if they breach the rules they should be given the same six months in jail term.

Will this apply to politiciens of the ruling party as well ? We remember how 'One Country One Law' rule applied to 'Thondaman Funeral' few months back during COVID.
