Changes to the United National Party (UNP) district leadership are on the cards with current Badulla District MP Harin Fernando expected to be appointed as Gampaha District Leader, party sources said.
In response to a question asked at a news conference he said some discussions have taken place on the matter but no final decision has been made. He said he was ready to contest from anywhere. “I am willing to contest even from Hambantota if asked to do so,” the MP said.
Current Gampaha District Leader John Amaratunga has already conveyed his decision to resign from the district leadership shortly.
Meanwhile, it was decided that Gampaha District MP Ranjan Ramanayake will not be given the ticket to contest the next general election. When contacted by Daily Mirror Mr. Ramanayake confirmed it. “I have been treated in this manner because I talked about corruption irrespective of political differences,” he said.
Mr. Ramanayake said he was contemplating whether to contest the general election in the Gampaha District from an independent list or to give up politics and become a full-time artiste. (Yohan Perera)

Who has decided that Ranjan Ramanayaka should not be given a ticket to contest the General Elections and why?

Prabably jealousy against RR as he poled 200K last time. He's a must in the UNP if the party to be a force in Gampaha.
