Foundation stone laid to rebuild flattened war monument at Jaffna Uni

Vice Chancellor of Jaffna University Prof. Srisatkunarajah today laid the foundation stone to reconstruct the war monument at the Jaffna University, which was demolished recently.

The Vice Chancellor said the decision was taken to rebuild the monument considering the students’ protests and the Harthal launched in North and East.

The momument was flattened by the university administration, as it was seen as an obstruction to unity and reconciliation. (Sithum Chaturange)

    Makes sense. This government thrives on creating rifts among communities. Destroying the monument is highly sensitive and a disrespectful act. Its just a memorial to remember the war victims. Absolutely nothing to do with terrorists. But then what more can you expect from this government? They are diverting peoples attention from real issues to cover up their faiulures.
