Following a directive by the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, the Secretary-General of Parliament Dammika Dassanayake has informed in writing to Central Bank Governor Professor W. D. Lakshman that the report on the five Forensic Audits are incomplete without the relevant annexes and exhibits.

The Secretary-General further informed the Governor of Central Bank as directed by the Speaker to take necessary action to make available complete Audit Reports to the Parliament at the earliest.

“The reports of Forensic Audit were carried out pursuant to the recommendation of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate and inquire in to the issuance of Treasury Bonds,” a press release issued by the Speaker’s office said. The Government and Opposition members of Parliament on Wednesday raised concerns that the Audit Reports are incomplete without the annexes and exhibits. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

CB Governor should not withhold part of the audit report from the parliament. He may be acting on the advice of the AG, but that is wrong. People are supreme and should not be kept in the dark.
