Claiming that forensic audit report on the Central Bank bond scam was meant to be used in court for legal procedures, JVP MP Sunil Hadunnetti yesterday urged the government to arrest former Central Bank governors Arjun Mahendran, Ajith Nivard Cabraal and political leaders who were involved in the scams as revealed in the audit report.
He told a news conference that it was clearly mentioned in the forensic audit report about the family tree of Mahendran between 2015 and 2016 and of Cabraal between 2006 and 2015.
“The audit report consists of five sections and annexures. This report also had proved the facts as revealed in the COPE report. Several people including Cabraal were criticising the report because they had something to hide. That is why he got so excited about the report,” the MP said.
He said the fifth section of the forensic audit report was on the bond scam when Mahendran was CB Governor and the government could take legal action against Mahendran based on the fifth section of the audit report, the COPE report and PCoI report on the bond scam.
“The Central Bank was looted under two of its governors. Looting the CB by both the governors should be investigated. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the finance minister can launch investigations from the beginning. The government was given a mandate to take action against those involved in the CB bond scam,” the MP, who was a former Chairman of COPE said.
He said the CB had promised to provide all the annexures to the COPE and expressed hope that the CB will hand over the annexures to Parliament soon.
“I do not think the CB wants to hide the annexures,’ he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

The greate bank robbery. Although MR and RW governments are responsible for this national crime former president A.Y.O .SIRISENA appointed his own commission to put the blame only RW governments. It is difficult to understand why AG is trying to hide this putting all the blame on previous government. .

If Gota does not investigate and punish those responsible, people have to wait till 2025, the next Presidential election for a clean up.

As a small accountant, Cabraal was never able to manage a financial institution of this size. Only because he was a henchman from MR he got this job. Even if his intelligence was not sufficient for this job, it was still enough to loot the Central Bank.

Shame on you Hadunetti. How much Ranil paid you to exonerate him from the day light robberies he planned and executed in February 2015 and March 2016? This so called Forensic Audit was a farce staged by Ranil (with the JVP on tow) to save himself and his buddy Mahendran. Where in the world the accused (CB) conducting and audit on himself (CB)? I sincerely hope next time the country will wipe out the entire JVP from the parliament.
