No surprise . All PAKSA cases will be closed and they are honourable men. Today the whole clan is living on the country. Mercs and BMW to travel and luxurious lives they never had before 2005.

Is there legal provision in this country to prosecute and punish those who fabricate cases against somebody for personal or political gains, wasting time of police and courts etc. for years and specially the public funds ?

    Jehan Monday, 30 November 2020 03:03 PM

Basil is free than anyone of us. Do u expect kangaroo court judges to go against their masters.

Also stealing from the poor and get away with it. There are no words for this Rajapaksa family.

    Gamini S Monday, 30 November 2020 03:43 PM

Whilst accepting the fact that BR is no saint (without conclusive evidence) I notice that the judges and other members of the judiciary have not been changed from what they were during the so called Yahapalana Time. So why gripe over matters which are are not known to the general public. That is you and me.

Anton Weerasinghe Monday, 30 November 2020 04:22 PM

This is banana republic of Sri Lanka

    Russell C. Chitty Monday, 30 November 2020 04:30 PM

It is no surprise when considering the acquittals during the past couple of weeks. So much for Sri Lanka`s `independent` judiciary. The fallout of the 20th Amendment. Rajapaksas and their minions can do no wrong. Rusty

what a shame there are so many stupid dullards who will believe anything from pohottuwa

Dream World Monday, 30 November 2020 08:24 PM

There is coming a day when the Rajapakse clan will never get a single vote from the people and that day they will have no place to go. These deeds pave the way for a good leader one day and he will put these goons in dungeons to never see the light of the day. It happened to them once, but it seems they have not learnt a lesson still. Sad that 6.9 million voters did not have the wisdom to see these things coming.

    J A Nihal Peiris Monday, 30 November 2020 08:42 PM

What is There to comment Let's Wait and see Next PM Basil

Ramesh Kanth Monday, 30 November 2020 08:47 PM

Now Basil can claim compensation from the government in millions. Way to go SL.

    FF Monday, 30 November 2020 09:14 PM

THIS VERDICT IS DUE TO INDEPENDENCE OF THE JUDICIARY AND NOT BECAUSE HE IS A RAJAPAKSA

    VJ Monday, 30 November 2020 10:28 PM

He only stole the peoples’s money, he is greedy. But murderers are being released, another waiting to be released. They will be seated in the parliament too.
