A digital wallet will be introduced to all citizens after the issuance of the Digital National Identity Card, Minister Namal Rajapaksa said.
He said it would allow citizens to keep their essential personal documents, including passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates and exam certificates, in a "digital wallet" on their mobile phones and present them at any time.
The Minister pointed out that the project is expected to be completed within 30 months.
He made these remarks speaking at the launch of the LANKA QR code introduced by the Central Bank for mobile payments in Gampaha yesterday.
Currently, the LANKA QR code payment project is being implemented in 13 major cities of the country.
Speaking at the event, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that attention is being paid to introduce the LANKA QR code to the tourism industry as well. Further steps will be taken in this regard in consultation with the relevant sections, he said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Just saying only. This won't happen forever. When Namal or other ministers see a mic they doesn't know what they are saying.

Try to curb the expenses involved for this digital venture and spend that money to help the poor people who are undergoing severe hardships.
