A special team of the CB-CID investigating the case of Angoda Lokka’s alleged death in Coimbatore has initiated DNA tests on samples collected from the dead body, New Indian Express reported today.
It said a five-member team of officials from the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) met their CB-CID counterparts to find out more about the death of the gangster, who is supposed to have controlled his criminal empire in Sri Lanka, virtually from India.
CB-CID IG K Shankar dismissed the meeting as a “usual procedure”, but Sri Lankan media suspect Lokka had links with LTTE.
Sources have told the Express, the only evidence to prove that the dead man is Lokka are statements provided by three persons arrested in connection with the case, including Lokka’s girlfriend Amani Dhanji.
She was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after suffering a miscarriage, and was discharged on Thursday.
