A 27-year-old man died after an engaged couple slipped and fell down from the Sera Ella waterfall in Laggala during a pre-wedding shoot Sunday evening, Laggala Police said.

They said the deceased Shirantha Sanjaya Rathnasuriya, a resident of Pansilugama in Kurunegala, was a carpenter in the profession.

The couple’s wedding was scheduled to be held on July 14.

They have visited the Sera Ella with the parents and other relatives for the pre-wedding shoot.

Police said the couple had slipped when they were getting ready to pose for a photo.

They said Dilmi, the bride-to-be, was rescued by a relative but they were unable to rescue Shirantha.

The body of the victim was recovered by Navy divers. (Mahesh Keerthirathne)
