Health Minister saying no virus in the community. Then why we have curfew?

    mohan Friday, 22 May 2020 12:06 PM

    To keep your mouth shut

    Warren Friday, 22 May 2020 02:10 PM

Mohan-Imposing curfew can't shut anyone's mouth. JoseP is raising a very valid question. No wonder why this government got re-elected and the country is governed by court jesters such as Bandula. Thanks to people like you!

Even in other countries, where community spread had has been brought under control, they still dont rush to remove lockdowns.. thats a decision the health authorities and the government takes.. Warren.. ya you talk as if there were intellectuals running the country all these years right? this government is at least competent in getting this virus under control.. even though it hurts you unp slaves

Andrew Silva Friday, 22 May 2020 11:58 AM

Our politicians say that corona virus is under control but imposes a curfew. Looks like they want to put a noose round every Sri Lankans neck and pull them according to their way of thinking. Are these people gone mad?

    Roshanaly Friday, 22 May 2020 12:02 PM

Jose, this curfew is imposed because the Muslims are going to celebrate the Festival either on Sunday or Monday according to the sight of the moon. Anyway this is welcome as you cannot control them like in the places where they are majority.

    Hadam Saturday, 23 May 2020 09:12 AM

Well said....! Though I am a Muslim I completely agree with you.

Hans perlee Friday, 22 May 2020 12:06 PM

Why this curfew? Because it's the Muslim festival?

AND we say that all are equal Friday, 22 May 2020 12:49 PM

Obvious - As it is a Muslim Festival. Colombo, Gampaha well there is an excuse. Other places where curfew was relaxed. Why. ? They do not want the Muslims to go about - well elections will be a eye opener.

Is this a Valentine Curfew. Interesting.....

Hans Perlee Friday, 22 May 2020 01:04 PM

Curfew indefinitly in Colombo and Gampaha districts. Meaning a 24 hour curfew again? House arrest??

    Nalkanthi M Friday, 22 May 2020 03:05 PM

Curfew was never lifted in Colombo or Gampaha. It has always been in place. They are allowing citizens to move about but police curfew is in place to curtail public gatherings etc.

    M. I jamil Friday, 22 May 2020 01:08 PM

    Very Good move

Hans perlee Friday, 22 May 2020 01:10 PM

Curfew indefinitly in districts Colombo and Gampaha. Meaning 24 hour curfew, house arrest again? Why? There is just one nactive corona cluster and that is a Navy Camp. Better declare these two districts bankrupt. Open up tourist hotels and restaurants? What is ther use if the curfew is indefinite?

Naeem Anis Friday, 22 May 2020 01:23 PM

    Good move!

Lanka Shantha Friday, 22 May 2020 01:29 PM

It is a big Joke "Colombo is under curfew". Each minute hundreds of vehicles are moving up and down the streets. But it is nice, 90% of people on the streets are keeping enough distance and 99% are using masks.

Rene decarte Friday, 22 May 2020 01:55 PM

Comments itself are a cause for curfew and shows ignorance and other thing is government is importing trouble from abroad most people and some microbiologists and docs government has not realised the danger of this virus it is not normal flu this is very very dangerous its in the air and everywhere paba palihawa da an is an example for stupidity

    Sunjith Friday, 22 May 2020 02:21 PM

All the cases are in the Navy or returnees...why does Colombo need to suffer more?

    Nandasena Friday, 22 May 2020 03:32 PM

If Muslims celebrated eid coming out the celebrity 5 monks will create a drama, and the that will be the bring negative view about gota for 6.9 million To prevent that curfew is easy go

    lk Saturday, 23 May 2020 12:58 PM

nandasena noone was bringing racism into this now.. stop stirring things up, just to make ur political slaves happy.. the government has handled this far better than expected

    Lokusalli Saturday, 23 May 2020 08:28 AM

It is indeed a good move ,as many people are becoming complacent concerning covid 19 ..we can all see more people not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly...young men standing next to each other chatting and with their arms round each other...This virus needs to be kept to the forefront of people's minds .

    Shihan Saturday, 23 May 2020 09:49 AM

Good move.. unfortunately during any communities festivals and special occasions where large human scale interactions/ visits occur this is a must.At least in the short term .. logical move We must understand that the infections are widespread.. only heavy symptomatic cases end up seeking medical attention.. so it’s important to protect elderly and vulnerable people from getting it.. we have done a good job so far..
