Event organiser Chandimal Jayasinghe and his driver have arrived at the Keselwatte police to give statements over a traffic offence.
The Colombo City Traffic had summoned them to record a statement with regard to an incident where Chandimal's vehicle had taken a U-turn across a zebra crossing violating traffic rules on his way back after getting bail for the incident of organising a birthday party at a five star hotel.
Chandimal and model Piumi Hansamali were arrested by the Fort Police on charges of violating quarantine regulations for organising a birthday party at a five star hotel in Colombo and later released on bail.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the driver of Chandimal was produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court in terms of the provisions of the traffic act for the violation of traffic rules at a pedestrian crossing.
Accordingly the driver pleaded guilty of the charges in the court and he was fined Rs. 12,500, he said.
