The Public Health Inspectors (PHI) Union yesterday warned that the COVID-19 pandemic had reached an ‘uncontrollable’ level within the Colombo Municipal Council city limits as a high number of patients were being detected on a daily basis.
PHI Union Secretary M. Balasuriya said that alarming numbers were continuing to be detected from areas under isolation while patients were also being detected from areas that were not under travel restrictions within the CMC city limits.
Balasuriya said that following the detection of a COVID-19 patient, measures must be taken to hospitalise the patient, trace close associates, conduct PCR tests and place them in quarantine - all within the course of a day, to prevent a spread.
Further stating that Sri Lanka was currently recording a high death toll from the virus, he said a large number of deaths were reported from the Colombo Port area, Modera and Borella.
The isolation status in Pettah, Foreshore and Mattakkuliya police areas in the Colombo District and Negombo and Ragama police areas in the Gampaha District were lifted from this morning while Modera, Bloemendhal, Kotahena, Grandpass, Dam Street, Wolfendhal Street, Maligawatte, Dematagoda, Keselwatte police areas and Wekanda and Wanathamulla Grama Niladhari Divisions will continue to remain isolated. Look at the ages of the patient.and already they are having chronic diseases. Its natural death that occurs not infected deaths.they are almost in their passing ages right. After their death their immunity level is 0.so when the pcr test is taken its positive. That's all.not to panic so much. How come only common public affected by covid 19.and all ministers and high officials are safe. Are they having 100% immunity levels.in other countries president ministers were affected and recovered. But here just public.its all business.here all see suffering without food in colombo. And they are enjoying with LPl.sham

Im an environment of adjacent houses it is very difficult to have social distancing. Add to that the people do not practice health guidelines. So untimately over 50% will be infected. But as reinfection occurs and after 4 months immunity is lost, what is the way forward ?
