The Court of Appeal (CA) today dismissed a writ application filed by Colombo Municipal Councillor Sharmila Gonawela seeking a writ of quo warranto against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The CA today upheld the preliminary objections raised on the maintainability of the writ of quo warranto application against Mr. Wickremesinghe and dismissed the petition.
The matter came up before Justice Shiran Gooneratne for the order on the preliminary objection. UPFA Councillor Gonawela, Co-President of ‘Women for Justice’, filed the writ of quo warranto petition against Mr. Wickremesinghe from being a member of parliament. (S.S.Selvanayagam)
