Assault on law student at Police: Minister orders IGP to interdict officers involved

Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara has instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct an inquiry into the incident at the Peliyagoda Police Station where a law student, a son of former Central Province Governor Maithri Gunaratne, was assaulted.

The Minister instructed the IGP to interdict the officers involved in the incident and conduct an investigation.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has launched an investigation into the incident.

He said a Chief Inspector of Police and three Constables have been interdicted over the incident.
