Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today informed Justice Minister Ali Sabry to remove him from the five members committee appointed to look into the unrest at Mahara Prison and to appoint another member due to conflict of interest.
Minister Ali Sabry yesterday appointed a five-member committee to look into the unrest which erupted at the Mahara Prison, advising the committee to submit a full report on the incident with recommendations.
While thanking for appointment, DIG Rohana in a letter to the minister informed that at present he functions as the Police Media Spokesman and conduct regular media briefings in respect of the current issues including the Prison issue.
"If I act as a member of the above Committee, it would be a conflict of interest and I would not be able to conduct media conferences. Hence, it is suggested to appoint another officer to the committee probing the issues of the Prison," he said.

Since when is a conflict of interest considered a problem in this country? And do you also want us to believe you are an independent spokesman?

Evasive action to be on good books. You can decline to talk to media about Prison riots and carry on as a Member of Committee appointed

He should not have been appointed in the first place. This is proof the committee will not be independent from the start.

He should also withdraw his intentions to perform a duet with I'll famed Samitha, that's also not suitable for a high ranking police officer.

Very good DIG Ajith Rohana, keep it up. Apparently the Justice Minister has been acting according to his whims and fancies. Al Sabri, don't forget that DIG Rohana, in addition to his uniform is also a man of the cloak.

Hi hi, that is all can think of!

Ram, that is not a good suggestion. A Media spokesman is expected to cover as far as possible everything happening around.

Well no one wants to be in the committee I feel
