Acting IGP requests transfer of PNB heads

Acting IGP C.D. Wickramaratna has requested the National Police Commission (NPC) to transfer the DIG and the Director of the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB).

Accordingly, PNB DIG Sajeewa Medawatta and PNB Director SSP Manjula Senarath will be transferred.

NPC Secretary Nishantha Weerasinghe said the acting IGP also recommended the commission to appoint DIG GKJ Aponso as the new head of the Police Narcotics Bureau and SSP Sujith Wedamulla as the new Director.

SSP Wedamulla is currently working as the personal assistant to the Badulla Senior DIG.

Weerasinghe said the commission will take a decision with regard to the request on Thursday at the commission meeting.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
