50-year-old suspect extradited from Dubai released

The 50-year-old suspect Piyal Pushpakumara Rajapaksha, who was deported from Dubai last morning and detained by the CID for further questioning, had been released today, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.

He said the suspect was a resident of Aaraama Road in Dematagoda. He was deported along with 22-year-old Afreed Mohammad Inham who was arrested by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) today.

The duo were arrested in Dubai along with notorious drug kingpin Makandure Madush and extradited to Sri Lanka on Thursday.  

They were detained by the CID officials for questioning upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.
