A total of 50 Grama Niladhari officers had contracted the coronavirus, Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Association (SLGNA) said.
Addressing the media SLGNA President Sumith Kodikara said no actions had been taken to provide Covishield vaccines to Grama Niladhari officers.
However, the Grama Niladhari Association claimed that the first death of the Grama Niladhari reported from Walapane due to Covid-19 on April 29.
"We are facing a higher risk because we deal directly with the people," he said.
The Association requested the Government to vaccinate the Grama Niladhari officers on a priority basis. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
