A total of 435 persons have been arrested in various parts of the country for violating quarantine laws during the past 24 hours.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said Police are conducting constant quarantine operations across the country specially in respect of COVID guidelines, rules and regulations embodied in the gazette notifications that has been published on October 15, 2021.
He said certain health guidelines issued by the Director General of Health Services for a period of 20 days till May 31 would come into effect from today.
He said accordingly,the police has arrested 435 suspects in connection with offenses of facemask and social distancing for a period of last 24 hours.
"A total number of 8299 suspects have been arrested for same offenses since October 30, 2020 to-date,"he said.
