Thirty-five Seychellois nationals arrived in Sri Lanka at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake yesterday to undergo treatment for several illnesses and health conditions including heart diseases at private hospitals, the government said.
Additional Secretary to the President Admiral (Retd) Jayanath Colombage said the group had arrived in the country following a request of the Government of Seychelles.
"This will strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries," he said.
He said the patients were brought down in the country after they were subjected to PCR tests in Seychelles.
They will undergo treatment at private hospitals after being directed to a quarantine centre set up at a luxury hotel to undergo 14-day quarantine at their own cost.
Following treatments, the group is scheduled to return to their home country in a Seychellois flight.(DSB)
