The voter turnout of the General Election was recorded as nearly 25 per cent as at 10 a.m., elections officials said.
The Colombo District recorded a voter turnout of 25 per cent, 24 per cent in Ratnapura, 20 per cent in Kalutara, 22 per cent in Matara, 25 per cent in Kurunegala, 25 per cent in Kandy and 16 per cent in the Puttalam.
Kilinochchi, Kegalle and Badulla districts recorded a turnout of 25 per cent while Jaffna recorded 20 per cent and Mullaitivu 13 per cent.
The Trincomalee District reported 30 per cent turnout while Monaragala recorded 35 per cent, Baticaloa and Vanni16 per cent, Polonnaruwa 20 per cent and Hambantota recorded 24 per cent.
