The United National Front (UNF) said today that they would remain unanimous in their support for UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.

They said the decision was taken at the UNF leader’s meeting today.

“The UNF stance will be reiterated to the President Maithripala Sirisena at this evening's meeting,” the UNP tweeted.

The UNP backbenchers have in no uncertain terms requested for a change and in leadership. The leader of the UNP has to and must be the presidential candidate and if general elections are legally called the Prime Ministerial candidate. The UNP has still not learnt as to what happens when the leader piggybacks at key elections.

Okay with one condition. discussions at the cabinet meetings should be in sinhalese so all can understand and share their views.

    Mandy Monday, 03 December 2018 02:21 PM

No I think UNP stance correct to show Prez that he was wrong. Let RW come for a week and then handover to successor after that.

    Rasheed Monday, 03 December 2018 03:56 PM

Yes, like what former CJ S. Bandaranayake did.

    samson Monday, 03 December 2018 03:22 PM

RW is not my nominee but Sirisena has to be told he was wrong.

    BUSHEL Monday, 03 December 2018 03:39 PM

ALL KNOW IT. NO NEED MORE TO CONVINCE

    Perumal Monday, 03 December 2018 03:59 PM

All commentators, please do not forget one thing. Maithreepala will not remain in office more than 2 hours if Ranil becomes PM. So Ranil will be President and Sajith PM.

De Silva Monday, 03 December 2018 04:10 PM

Just want to make Mr President and who worship Mahinda aware, that the decision made was wrong. Govern this country according to the rule of law.

    NIHAL Monday, 03 December 2018 10:05 PM

MR SIR WE ALL RESPECT YOU BUT YOU HAVE WRONGLY ADVISED TO FOLLOW ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY WRONG WAY TO HOLD ON TO POWER SIR PLEASE COME DEMOCRATIC WAY
