The voter turn out at the General Elections re-poll at the Nawalapitiya and Kumburupitiya electorates has been satisfactory so far with a 40% voter turn out according to election monitors.

PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi told Daily Mirror online that the turn out had been the same as the April 8 elections in both the electorates and also ruled out any election violence in the first five hours since voting began at 7.00 this morning.

“It has been quite peaceful so far in Nawalapitiya and Kumburupitiya. Our teams are however monitoring the situation,” Hettiarachchi said.

I thought voters apathy may mar the turnout. The result is foregone conclusion as the voters know the delivering bandwagon.
