The opposition United National Party (UNP) is facing pressure from elements operating outside the party, UNP leader Ranil Wickramasingha said today. He said this during a meeting with the Mahanayaka of the Malwatta chapter in Kandy the most venerable Thibatuwawe Sri Sumangala thero.

UNP to remain as UNP you must be there. Dont give in to any kind of pressure either inside or out. You dont have be a perfect gentleman and 100% democtaic, Srilankans will never understand your theory or principals. they think you are weak. So change yourself a bit. Change all your advisors we dont know which side they support.

Previous UNP Leaders never said such things.A Leader should be strong enough to tackle any outside force.How can Mahanayakas prevent outside pressure?
