The Court has remanded an alleged LTTE Journalist who was detained and questioned by the CID on the charges that he spread slanderous news against the government and the security forces.

The CID said the suspect, Kalimuttu Sharmila, was a  broadcaster of National Tamil Net  TV which is alleged to be the official TV Channel of the LTTE Movement.

They said the suspect by presenting new to that channel had spread slanderous and injurious news against the humanitarian operations carried out by the security forces in the North.

The CID also submitted that the suspect, during the last stages of the humanitarian, operations in order to discourage the victories of the forces and to draw an unpleasant picture about our forces and against the government among the international community had engaged in this atrocious act.

Since the CID had sought the advice of the Attorney General over the suspect, the magistrate remanded the suspect until such time.
