The famous Subash Hotel which was the headquarters of the Army’s 51st  Division for the last sixteen years was handed back to its owners by the Sri Lanka Army, in full compliance with the instructions issued by the government pertaining to the continuous retention of private property for military use, Military spokesman Major General Ubaya Medawala said.

The Hotel, situated in the Jaffna High Security Zone (HSZ) was taken over by the Army on 2nd December 1995 on lease, in order to maintain security, law and order in the township as the scourge of LTTE terrorism. (Supun Dias)

Vast extents of land and building inside Colombo held by the three forces also should be released for commercial development.

Also someone should do something to move the railway scrap yard occupying several acres of prime land in Dematagoda. It is such an eyesore and a sheer waste of land

It will be more useful if someone could grow keera or vegetables there.
