PSD has shown a lot of arrogance.... they act as if the road belongs to them wish one of them crashed with a lorry or something XD

    gamini Tuesday, 19 October 2010 11:22 AM

When killings during the war is over killings on the roads have started. What a shame !

    Viraj Tuesday, 19 October 2010 11:23 AM

Why PSD or any other vip vehicles running so fast? Is there still LTTE threat. Those who yell that they crushed LTTE are still scared to them.

Tm Abay Tuesday, 19 October 2010 12:14 PM

unl wait till somethin bad happens 2 U. Like this incident 4 an instant

    Gobbaya Tuesday, 19 October 2010 01:07 PM

people should get some perspective. this happens to thousands of drivers every year. was he drinking? was he speeding? without any of this info, just because this happened to be a PSD vehicle, it makes headline news. giving people something to shout about on online forums. all i can say is, deepest sympathies to the victim's family.

    pissupusa Tuesday, 19 October 2010 01:44 PM

The vehicle was going from Moratuwa to Colombo at around 5.45 this morning.

The pedestrian task was to just cross the road which would be max 20 feet.

    Who's fault?

    uditha Tuesday, 19 October 2010 01:54 PM

I can see how FRUSTRATED Mr David is ??????

    dharshan Tuesday, 19 October 2010 02:40 PM

Most of the security escort vehicle drivers , drive like maniacs
thinking that they are above the common law of the country. They simply harass the innocent drivers. These idiots should be given a stern punishment.

    Dilan Tuesday, 19 October 2010 02:47 PM

    yes

    Dillon Tuesday, 19 October 2010 03:21 PM

OK, lets start a protest in front of the 'Temple Trees' saying that MR is the one who is responsible for this death !!!

    TMA Tuesday, 19 October 2010 04:09 PM

U really live up2 the name, man. It's cos road rules R not applied 2 these ppl.

    Asterix Tuesday, 19 October 2010 04:48 PM

A typical Sri Lankan pin head!!!!

Robert Ace Tuesday, 19 October 2010 05:39 PM

Come on...Stripping priviledges & ranks is applicable only to those who oppose the government. So don't expect a miracle.

    Nihal Tuesday, 19 October 2010 05:58 PM

Why on earth these devils drive so fast as they are stolen vehicles. Whom are they are frighten of ? Oh it's SF how stupid can I be

    AA Tuesday, 19 October 2010 07:09 PM

It is common to meet these reckless escort vehicles on the road regularly. Who or why they are used is difficult to understand as I thought we have eradicated terrorism.

    anura Tuesday, 19 October 2010 07:30 PM

very well said! the reason for the arrogance is defence minisry support

    gona Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:56 PM

Hey Scrap-metal dealer, have you seen how Prime minsters and Presidents of 1st World Countries travel, yep at very high speed, road is cleared by police for at least half a mile ahead of traffic. Try doing that in SL. Wake up from your dreamland.
If you going to punish anyone for poor driving and just plain bad road manners, start those drivers from CMB 7,3 and 5

    bernard Tuesday, 19 October 2010 11:34 PM

Not to worry. Driver has nothing to be afraid of even if he gets a two and a half year rigorous prison sentence. He will get a Presidential pardon.

    sunila Wednesday, 20 October 2010 12:44 AM

I am in Australia for a few months. I feel ashamed when I see how pedestrian friendly this country is. As you step onto a by road the vehicle which comes stop. I have been walking the roads many times unlike in Sri Lanka trhe vehicles stop for you and not pedestrians stop for vehicles. Be it the Presidents security Division or any other have no concern for those who walk. How many road deaths are recorded a year. All Sri Lankans have to bow their heads in shame for what is happening be it SF or anyother.

Calistus Jayatilleke Wednesday, 20 October 2010 02:16 AM

These have become killer machines in the hands of maniac drivers who consider themselves to be royalty. it was just recently one such vehicle disrupted water supply to the suburbs, and now this killing. Even during ancient King's times, their servants did not behave like this.

    Zahran Wednesday, 20 October 2010 02:46 AM

Here is what PSD means now - Pedestrians crossing is Severely Disrupted -M. Zahran

Nalin Pradeep Wednesday, 20 October 2010 03:59 AM

    RAJA UNA !

    spark Wednesday, 20 October 2010 04:22 AM

Actually it is road rules or rather any rule of the country dont matter for anybody who is close to the president.

    spark Wednesday, 20 October 2010 04:23 AM

Can you find any citizens in SL with spine to do this?

    JK Wednesday, 20 October 2010 04:24 AM

I've visited more than 20 countries around the globe and Sri Lanka has by far the worst traffic situation and the worst drivers! And never have I heard about ministers traveling in the same rude manner as thay apparently do here. Yes gona, in some countries preidents travel on roads cleared by the police, but then you will not have any innocent victims because of careless driving. The current situation in Sri Lanka is not sustainable. And that does not only apply for the traffic situation but for politics overall.

    citizen1 Wednesday, 20 October 2010 04:44 AM

the only one is behind bars.

Roshan DW Wednesday, 20 October 2010 07:47 AM

Cars with red number plates,or no number plates are a law to themselves. The PSD ia so rude to other road users. Are those travelling in these plush vehicles fallen from the sky? They have been elected by the cvommon masses. Please respect them.

    dhammika Wednesday, 20 October 2010 08:38 AM

Very pertinent point. I have been wondering if we had different traffic rules, as the traffic cops and all of us have got immune to this menace.

    TDDC Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:20 AM

I like to go back to the History to remind the judgment of the great king Elara given to his bellowed son for a traffic offense. Let wait and see and compare the judgments of two great kings where the playing fields are smiler. Only difference is one is a son of the king the other is a driver of the king.

    Sharma Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:20 AM

    Presidential killers.

    scrap_metal Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:22 AM

we wonder sometimes even after the war, why should these jokers have to travel so fast on the road? are they under the normal traffic rules that we are under or do they have their own speed limits, highway code etc.... ?????????????

    malithlk Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:22 AM

Old man fault. pedestrian and motorist are not allow to travel the road when PSD or other high ranking government supporters are traveling.

    dodge Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:24 AM

This Driver too like the other politicians drivers are an " ASSET "without the 1st two letters.

    PRESIDENT Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:25 AM

David said right word 'frustrated'... we all are frustrated and so upset of the way we are been fouled by this regime...
we are so sorry about our future generations.. they will be even low slaves of these thugs ...if we don't act fast !

    ajithith Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:27 AM

confiscate the culprits driving license and punish him with maximum penalty.
    Compensate the victim's family.
They all have been intoxicated with "Presidents viral flue"

    Serenity Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:36 AM

May He rest in peace. And now the Mount Lavinia judge shall release him - no surprises there!

    Saradial Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:38 AM

Inspector kiled a kid, now PSD has killed a elder Why security personal Drive carelessly? Does they are above the road rules?

    Citizen Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:38 AM

Very pathetic situation. Many VIP escort vehicles and vehicles belonging to three armed forces and police are driving carelessly. They seems to have forgotten that road rules are the same for all. Now war being ended it is time to strip off this privilege except for few of those who really need it.

    Wasantha Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:39 AM

It is very much regret to say that VVIP security has become a severe threat to the lives of the public. This indisciplined guys works like their masters who thinks that this land only belongs to them. As far as we know, the Galle Road is not yet declared as a highway and PSD official sholuld be learned to act within the law of the country. It seems that they are suffering from the "MASTERS FEVER" and as recently said the discipline need to comes first from your home. Until such a genuine attempt is made from the top, this type of pathetic situations inevitable.

    lankaputha Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:47 AM

Think you mean to say without the last two letters

    unl Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:03 AM

We all love the Goverment and the President. so we cant help with you fustration. maybe another 20 Years time.

    Suba Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:18 AM

PSD vehicle? It is always the other man's fault.

    David Tuesday, 19 October 2010 08:14 AM

the frustrated SF fans will say the President is responsible for this ...!!!!

wickremasinghe Dilip Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:24 AM

Well said Mr. David. At least some one thinks straight.
    Dilip.

    Pandu Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:26 AM

    Well said.

    Ravi Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:26 AM

He is... PSD is for Presidential Security Division

TERRENCE B. DE SILVA Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:26 AM

IS THIS KARMA ? FOR THE 58 YEAR OLD MAN TO BE ON THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AT THIS TIME AND PLACE & THIS PARTICULAR PSD DRIVER TO BE DRIVING AT SPEED REGARDLESS OF THE PEDESTRIAN AND CAUSE HIS DEATH??

    michi Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:32 AM

AI Ane SF hire idan kumathrana koroth. Ekane Hiyen yanne.

    chin Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:37 AM

How many people killed by other vehicles per day in Sri Lanka?

    15 or more .

mentally blind people cant see it in open mind. They get stimulated by big news created by newspapers once in a while like above

    JM Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:38 AM

They have forgotten that the war is over.Unfortunately they have the law un to themselves.........the poor man's family will suffer for ever, but the culprit will go scot free. Afterall nobody can stop this in this country where there is no voice for anybody.

knight Rider Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:39 AM

most reckless accidents are caused by PSD vehicles either by direct hit or indirectly sending other road users out of control.
YES THIS MADNESS MUST STOP. We the people, the General public along with the traffic police should act with responsibility towards the safety of our community and protest against this unethical behavior by ministers and their brainless moronically qualified Drivers

Mr. Serious Tuesday, 19 October 2010 09:41 AM

Never heard something like this anywhere else in the world. what a country. probably the old man who died would have voted for the president (king) him self. what an irony. what a shame.

    dutugamunu Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:03 AM

    good one !!!

    Ajithkumar Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:17 AM

What do you mean by frustrated SF fans… are you sure all others are saints…? and only SF is a sinner … ???

    Ajithkumar Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:18 AM

he was in the wrong place in the wrong time..

    Zahran Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:40 AM
