The Army has recovered several torched LTTE light aircraft parts that had been kept hidden inside a container in Vellamullivaikkal and Ampalawanpokkanai during the peak of the battles in Wanni.
According to Sri Lanka Air Force, the burnt parts belonged to light aircraft engines or gliders. Two gear levers, pedals and a few other accessories have been identified among other components.
It is believed that the LTTE had burnt those aircraft parts in a hurry during the final stages of the humanitarian operations as they were losing grip on the ground. Sri Lanka Air Force are conducting further investigations. (Daily Mirror online)
