A section of the Galle road between Colpetty and Galle face is temporarily closed as monks of the Bhikku Union of the Colombo University and the police are involved in a standoff, with the monks attempting to reach Temple Trees. (SD)

The reason for the monks' protest was the proposed establishment of a separate 'Academy for Bhikkus.' I can't see anything wrong with that as there is no purpose in Bhikkus attending other universities to follow qualifications not relevant to Buddhism.
