The Deputy Minister also read a letter from the samurdhi officer. Meanwhile the opposition castigated the Deputy Minister for his action. (KB & YP)

This drama has been staged to shift the public anger from Health Ministry and politicians to Public Servants.
Concerned Citizen Wednesday, 04 August 2010 12:48 PM
.....how long are we to tolerate such actions?
As long as this idiotic government is in power!
citizen1 Wednesday, 04 August 2010 12:58 PM
Somehow the words 'mervin' and 'innocent' don't sound very compatible.

The video clearly shows Mervyn Silva telling his security officer 'meya bandinawa gahata'.
The problem is that he takes the public to be idiots as he is.
gama Wednesday, 04 August 2010 05:54 PM

sharm Thursday, 05 August 2010 01:08 AM

Otuwa Wednesday, 04 August 2010 12:44 PM
@prasad
Don't forget, many Rupavahini guys had to face serious consequences later on!
Dr.R.seneviratne Thursday, 05 August 2010 03:06 AM
can you remember the days prior to the elections when the samurdhi officers extorted the polling cards of the samurdhi recipients? i am sure if this official was from kelaniya he would have voted for Mervin. Well, if you sow the wind you reap the whirlwind.
Roshan Thursday, 05 August 2010 03:08 AM

Poor us... No authority. Only Kings and Queens ruling Mother Sri Lanka.
Nimal Thursday, 05 August 2010 04:55 AM
Come on Mervyn. First tie the dengue mosquito the mango tree. After that tie yourself to the mara tree. That is the solution to the dengu epidemic.
Thanush Thursday, 05 August 2010 05:15 AM
What Mervin Silva did was mad and ugly. There is no second opinion about it. I am not aware very well about his mental condition as well. However, such harsh punishments sometimes work. Look at Saudi Arabia. Crime rate is zero. Because Punishments are severe. Here the crime is Samurdhi Officer cheats public who pay him salary by their tax money by ignoring his duty.
Common sence. Thursday, 05 August 2010 05:47 AM
Mr.Mervin we know you are a fool but dont show your foolishness to the world. Its shame to Sri Lanka, your party and for your voters too.
Jehan Thursday, 05 August 2010 09:51 AM
Clearly the infrastructure needs of this country aren't roads and bridges but lunatic asylums to house all those in Kelaniya who voted this man into parliament.
sujeeva Friday, 06 August 2010 02:46 AM
No as long as the fools in Sri Lanka elect these kind of Madmen with thumping majorities to Parliment.

SW Wednesday, 04 August 2010 11:08 AM
Our country is run by jokers like this.
Vince Wednesday, 04 August 2010 11:09 AM
No!!! Instead President must tie him to a tree or post in front of the parliment.
Otuwa Wednesday, 04 August 2010 11:16 AM
Small observation:
Most of us don't dare sacrificing our 'normal lives' and doing something great for the country. We just go on blaming the system and the fat ones in the parliament. I am guilty of that too.
Further, we have bunch of crooks, bimbos etc ( I will not insult the animals) running for elections where we are supposed choose better ones out of those (of course we don't even do that properly...)
Vicious cycle ain't it?
Sanath R Wednesday, 04 August 2010 11:24 AM
