Sri Lanka says some of its patent rights have been “stolen” by western countries that have created medicine and antibiotics using extracts of local Ayurvedic products, animals, reptiles and insects.
Sri Lankan authorities will have to seek “diplomatic intervention” in order to resolve the issue and get back what rightfully belongs to the island, an official at the Ayurvedic Department told Daily Mirror online.
When contacted Technology and Research Minister Tissa Vitarana confirmed that there were many cases where the patent rights of Sri Lanka have been violated and a study on the matter will have to be carried out. (Daily Mirror online)

Hope, someone will steal SL's 'patent' for human rights abuses.
