The Government says they will ask their embassies to work closely with the respective countries in dealing with LTTE front organizations that organize transnational polls by the so called provisional LTTE government.

“We will provide information with regard to these LTTE front organizations and the negative impact they can have on their countries,” External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said.

According to him the Government will not pay attention to these transnational polls that were held in Canada and Australia. “We have had two major elections in the country since the end of the war and the Government has won with nearly a 2/3 majority, and these so called polls will not have any effect,” Prof. Peiris said.

According to him they are looking forward to carrying out preventive action against the propaganda that is created by these polls while on the other hand educating them on Sri Lanka’s efforts of moving forward.

Let them do what ever they want its out of Sri Lankan borders so why worry. And Mr Raj I'm sorry to disappoint you no one is going to "acknowledge" . But Canada might acknowledge and give a part of their land.

This is a good move. There are no political parts on behalf of the Tamil civilions. See now whats happening in Jaffana .......killing each other every day.

Samy boy you are a Juvenile for even saying something like that... I am not a tamil myself but think it's that very exact way of self Righteousness that has brought so much destruction to the sinhalese people.. It's one thing to be proud of who you are and another to think everyone else is inferior to you, that pride is not a good kind... Change the way you think...

We should create a situaiton where the Tamils who live overseas feel comfortable to come and live in SL. Them being brain washed by former LTTE and we should give them confidence and make them move into their original mother land. Not only for Tamils, we should create a situation for all SL to come back to our country.

Mr. Sam, tamils were here before sinhala race existed, so you mind your own business, you don't have to welcome us to live as second class citizens we are 1st class citizens too.

    Tuesday, 04 May 2010 02:24 AM

    Well said!

    Tuesday, 04 May 2010 01:30 AM

Sri Lanka is a Sinhalese Buddhist country and it is going to stay that way for years to come!

Tamils are welcome to live with us in peace accepting the fact that they are a minority!

I am also one of the diaspora. But, I do not like to actively participate Sri Lankan politics. In my comment, I mentioned that Sri Lankan government is concerned about the Transnational government. Therefore, I thought that TNG is going to play a role in Sri Lankan politics. When it comes to TNG, I am neither for or against it as long as it is democratic. Politics in any third world countries are A mess regardless of their race. I am only interested in politics of the country where I reside.

    Balla
Do not mislead the world. There is no clause in the constitution to indicate that 'only a buddhist can become the president'. Like all the LTTE sympathisers you are spreading false propaganda. If there is such a clause how come Tamils contest presidential elections?

This story with ltte is getting old, soon the masses will cotton on to it. Better start with a new strategy!

    Monday, 03 May 2010 04:20 PM

Raj. Of course there is concern to anyone when it concerns terrorists and their supporters. We don't want these Tamil tiger terrorist elements in other countries who operate under the guise of "Tamil diaspora" to continue their terrorizing activities and create havoc and mayhem in our motherland once again. As for the impact, it will again be from our side if these terrorist elements try to raise their ugly heads once again.

    Monday, 03 May 2010 12:45 PM

LTTE is gone for good. Tigers are gone for good. But the Tamils are still here, there, and everywhere. Unless the Tamils in Lanka are given equal rights in all respect, Lanka will be consumed by the fear of imaginary Tigers.

the Prof is looking for work -

    Monday, 03 May 2010 02:54 PM

Sri Lankan government is against any democratic activities carried out by Sri Lankan Tamils. Before you open up your mouth remove the “only Buddhist can become the president” clause in your constitution. Terror state has no right to object anything. Winning 2/3 majority will not justify war crimes and extremism.

    Monday, 03 May 2010 02:53 PM

Why don't you just give equal rights to the Tamils. We should welcome them to live as equal citizens rather than concentrate on their reactions to our discrimination. Take our discrimination away, the transnational government will go away. Simple professor. Please use logic for once.

    Monday, 03 May 2010 02:15 PM

Yes there is an impact. Because the front organisation of LTTE is trying their best to resurrect the remaining elements of the international terrorist organisation. Whether the government acknowledges it or not is a matter wich has to do with politics. But the concern remains not only to them, but also to us as citizens who love this country.

    Monday, 03 May 2010 02:14 PM

    You are very correct

    Monday, 03 May 2010 01:51 PM

So this makes the gov worried. any one in the world has the freedom to express their opinoin. these elections were held under the electoral regulations in respective countries. other countries have allowed the people to talk.. not suppressing them. Please put and end to talking only about LTTE when they are no more. electing representatives to talk on behalf of Eelam Tamils is sole democratic process..

    Monday, 03 May 2010 01:37 PM

by reading this news i can understand that there is an impact on Sri Lanka because government's concern is an indication and acknowledgement.

    Monday, 03 May 2010 01:34 PM

First educate international community how ethnic problem is going to be resolved, do not say there is no ethnic probem in Sri Lanka and war is over, international community is smart on what is going on in Sri Lanka and where tamils have been placed here in Srilanka

    Monday, 03 May 2010 01:27 PM

Prof. Why are you worried about it?

    Monday, 03 May 2010 12:53 PM

I think the honoured Prof should not answer these jokers
