Former Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva, visited the site in Kelaniya a short while ago where a demonstration is being held in his support, and said that he is confident of returning to his post.
Silva, who was removed from his post by President Mahinda Rajapaksa over an incident where he tied a man to a tree recently, said that he is awaiting the outcome of the investigation on him launched by the President.
He also said that he was not concerned over the outcome of the investigation and urged his supporters to give up the protest held in his support adding that he had the support of the people like he did at the last elections. (Daily Mirror online)

I hope the President will keep this guy away from the public. It is because of a few bad eggs that the current government comes into disrepute. Well done! Mr. President. You did something which should have been done a long time ago. And now please dont let this man come back to hurt some more people.
Sam Thursday, 12 August 2010 08:24 AM

Nandimithra Thursday, 12 August 2010 08:25 AM
Why is he so confident of the investigation going his way unless he has threatened them as is his usual style. Or MR has already said to lie low till the fire burns out.
Somawanse .A Thursday, 12 August 2010 08:33 AM
Mr. Mervyn should be in Angoda for proper treatment. If anybody gives him back the same post they should be also in Angoda.
