The foot and mouth disease is on the rise in the Central Province and is spreading across Anuradhapura affecting cattle and halting the collection of dairy from the area, Animal Product and Health Department Director A. Chandrasoma told Daily Mirror online.

Chandrasoma added that foot and mouth disease was a highly contagious and sometimes a fatal viral disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals and had spread in Anuradapura during the transportation of cows. (Daily Mirror online)

I believe the name of this disease is 'Hoof and mouth' not foot and... Anyway, with the marvellous services of our health sector who knows what will come out of it. Maybe another one to add to the long list of diseases going around.

Urgent qurantine messures should be put in place, and livestock movement in and out of the area should be halted, immediately. People should be educated about the danger of this disease and on how to stop it from spreading, all over the country.

Although, this disease basically spreads among the animals I won't be surprised one day if an outbreak of this disease is reported among our reputed politicians who are renowned for not only putting their "foot in their mouth but putting BOTH their feet in their mouth"! So be it!!
