The former Chief Operating Officer of the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA) Saliya Wickremasuriya was arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) today for allegedly misappropriation of some Rs.130 million in the tsunami funds, police said.

Wickremesuriya was remanded by Colombo Magistrate's Court until May 12.

RADA was established in November 2005 by then President Mahinda Rajapaksa as a Special Agency responsible for overseeing rehabilitation and development following the tsunami and directly responsible to the President.
