EAP Leisure’s Sapphire and Concord Grand hotels win 19 medals at the Culinary Art Competition 2015

Friday 07th August 2015, Colombo: EAP Leisure’s Sapphire and Concord Grand hotels recently won 19 medals at the prestigious Culinary Art Competition 2015. EAP Leisure strives to be a pioneer in the hospitality industry and is part of the EAP Group. The company secured a total of 2 gold awards, 6 silvers and 11 bronze awards at the event, which was conducted by the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka. 

Nuwan Priya from EAP Leisure won gold awards in the ‘Carving – Fruit & Vegetable’ category and the ‘Artistic Pastry Showpiece’ category. Janaka Bandara secured a silver medal in the ‘Artistic Pastry Showpiece’ category, whilst Victor Frank and Mahesh Somapala won silver medals in the ‘Beverage – Arrack Cocktail’ and ‘Artistic Pastry Showpiece’ categories respectively.
Sarath Dissanayake received a silver medal in the ‘Individual Ice Carving’ category, whilst P.A. Paplie won silver in the ‘Hot Cooking – Meat, Seafood & Poultry’ category. Nuwan Priya, Saman Rajapakse, Mahesh Somapala, T.H. Chaminda, M.C.M Abeyratne, W.D. Wasantha, Kasun Gunarathne and N.T. Rathnayake also won bronze medals across a variety of categories. A further ten employees from the companies also participated in the various competitions held at the event. 

Commenting on the awards, Mr Mano Tittawella, the Group Chairman/Managing Director of EAP Holdings and Deputy Chairman of EAP Broadcasting Company (EBC), stated, “We are immensely proud of the EAP Leisure team for winning a total of 19 medals at the Culinary Arts Competition 2015. This is one of the most renowned platforms for judging and recognizing culinary excellence in Sri Lanka, and our performance as a company has been exemplary. By winning medals in a diverse cross-section of categories, we have been able to truly highlight the culinary expertise of our team and further secure our position as a leader in the hospitality industry.”
