There are around 75,000 persons employed as professionals in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Sri Lanka at present. By the year 2020, the demand for ICT professionals will zoom to around 200,000 to take the country’s economy to greater heights.
These observations were made by Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, Managing Director, ESOFT Metro Campus, at the ceremonial opening of the new computer laboratory at the Kottukachchiya Maha Vidyalaya, Puttalam.
The ceremonial opening of the new computer laboratory under the ‘E-Thilina’  project, was held under the patronage of Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, Group Managing Director, ESOFT Metro Campus,  Chief Executive Officer, Nishan Sembakuttiarachchi, General Manager, Upul Dissanayake, Assistant Manager (Branch Operations), Harsha Ravindra, Wennappuwa Branch Manager, Ranmal Fernando, Kurunegala Branch Manager, Savithra Wanninayake, Programmes Manager, Sirasa Rupavahini, Thanuja Jayawardena, Programmes Executive, Sanath Nandana, Sales Manager, MTV/MBC, Daminda Nishanka, Networks Manager, Susantha Samaramadu, and Principal, Kottukachchiya Maha Vidyalaya, Priyantha Saman Kumara.
Speaking further, Dr. Dayan Rajapakse said that there is an abundance of highly paid jobs for students who opt for ICT as a subject while pursuing their higher studies. It is with the key objective of encouraging students to make an informed choice and opt for ICT as a subject for a rewarding career that ESOFT Metro Campus teamed up with Sirasa Television to launch the ‘E-Thilina’ community service oriented initiative.
With roots going back to the year 2000, ESOFT has today grown to be the largest private sector education network in Sri Lanka due to the extensive coverage that we have via our branch network which includes ESOFT Metro Colleges, ESOFT Regional Campuses, and ESOFT Metro Campuses.
